So I am upstairs in the girls room doing an overhaul...ie. throwing out anything that contributes to clutter. While tossing useless items into a giant bag, Adrienne enters the room & says, "I want to throw Squiggs out". I could not believe my ears! The haggled little yellow cat with the ragged & frayed tail that Adrienne LOVED since she was 3!?
"What! Why?" I said.
"Because I don't want to suck my thumb anymore...I am a big girl and I don't want to do it."
Wow! This is the same girl that would have nursed until 2 if I let her (she had a good year of nursing but I had to stop otherwise she would have killed me :) and she absolutely LOVES her thumb. Squiggs and the thumb went hand-in-hand. I had to bribe Squiggs out of her hands just so I could wash the thing.
So this was a big step...a decision made all on her own. We are proud of you little A, my big girl!!!

I just finished reading this and I had a tear come into my eye. Not because Squiggs was being thrown out, but because my little girl who I remember holding in one hand on my chest is now growing up. Adrienne I am soooo proud of you and how God is growing you in every aspect. I love you my sweet little princess!
My Gosh..our little Adrienne is growing up. Ge Ge and PaPa are very proud of you.
Love you...PaPa
Little A,
We are so proud of you.
I'm sorry we are saying "goodbye" to Squiggs because not only are we saying goodbye to him, but we are saying goodbye to our little girl.
Did Squiggs have to be thrown out? I seem to remember somebody really upset that I threw out a furry bunny.
I still remember my soft little bunny!!! Adrienne is doing so well not sucking her thumb! She is determined! She does admit to missing Sqiggs. And she wanted to thank everyone for the encouragement!!
