Packing Up

Well the washing machine is on non-stop and I am starting to pack the kids up for our 2 week vacation down the shore. We leave tomorrow and there is so much to do! I painted our "old" bedroom this morning so we can move the girls in Labor Day weekend. I need to clean & tidy the house (isn't it so nice to come home to a clean house!), fold clothes, clean out the fridge, vacuum and pack everyone up.....okay, I'm overwhelmed just typing that. So let me get off the computer & get movin'. The blog will be on vacation for 2 weeks as well, but don't forget to check back in after Labor Day to see some vacation pics, back to school shots...and maybe some of the finished addition. Hope you all soak in these last days of summer and make some great memories!!!

Ocean City, NJ

Our good friends Andy & Paula graciously invited us to the shore this weekend and we had so much fun! We spent the night at a beautiful house that a friend of theirs owns. We spent time on the beach Friday & Saturday and went on some boardwalk rides Friday night. On Saturday after the beach we had dinner & played baseball & frisbee at a nearby park. The kids all played so well together. It was a great time. Thanks again Rodgers family!!! We love you guys!!

The Latest on Hip-Hop

Press Release:

76ERS PLACE HIP-HOP ON INJURED RESERVE: POPULAR MASCOT TO BEGIN REHABILITATION EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

YOUNG FANS ENCOURAGE TO SEND CARDS AND WELL WISHES FOR SPEEDY RECOVERY

Philadelphia, Pa. – August 4, 2008 – The Philadelphia 76ers today placed their mascot Hip-Hop on the injured reserve list after the popular and entertaining mascot suffered an injury to his knee while attempting one of his sky-walking dunks for a group of children.

Effective immediately, Hip-Hop is beginning an extensive rehabilitation program.

"We expect Hip-Hop to make a full recovery," said Senior Vice President of Business Operations Lara Price. "We know how badly he wants to return and we know how much his fans are looking forward to him getting back on the court to perform the dunks that made him famous."

Hip-Hop, a 10-year veteran, has only missed one game since joining the club after attending college at John "Hop" Kins University. The only time he was forced to miss action was due to birth of his first bunny, during Game Five of the 2001 NBA Finals.

Hip-Hop is determined to return to form in time for the start of the regular season. The Sixers have created a dedicated space at SIXERS.COM where fans can monitor his progress every "hop" of the way.

Young fans are encouraged to send "Get Well" cards which can be dropped in a mailbox located in Hip-Hop’s Garden for Kids at the Wachovia Center, or via mail to:

Matthew's Haircut

This weekend Bill cut Matthew's hair so I got a couple shots. Bill takes pride in doing his son's hair and after almost 3 years of me fussing about it, I have finally given in . "You do the girls hair...now let me do my son's hair!" Bill says. I think he has a point. I really don't like the new trend for boys to have long hair. Call me old fashion but I still like the short, clean-cut, athletic-military look. So here's Bill and Matthew! I get so much joy seeing those 2 together...especially since Matthew is like a little mini-me for Bill.

Update on Adrienne: Strep test was negative & I failed to see the blisters on Adrienne's soft palate (throat), almost always a sign of a virus (aren't you all glad I'm not a practicing PA?!) Coxsackie Virus...very common & contagious...great!! Her fevers are down but the throat is sore the poor thing. Lots of ice cream and soup help!

My Little A

Well the doctor visits will continue this morning at the Roth home. It looks like Adrienne may have Strep throat. She's been running high fevers all weekend & began complaining of a sore throat & swollen glands since yesterday. Her throat is bright red with a few little white spots...also called "exudate" on her tonsils. White spots do not always mean strep but because of her high fever, I'm assuming it is. She has a 10:30 apt. today at the pediatrician. Please pray for our little "Sweet Cheeks" as we call her if you get the chance today & have a great week!!! (Can you believe it's August already!?...Come on summer...slow down!!!)
